According to my count down, I have three months, fourteen days, ten hours, six minutes and 15 seconds before I officially end my time in public education. Thus far, the reality that I will no longer be part of this type of organization is hitting me between the eyes several times each day. I do know are educational systems. School systems, although somewhat different from each other generally operate in a similar way. As I have stated in previous blogs, it is simply time for me to move on and try something different.
Leaving the public education sector is a bittersweet venture. In reality, I know in my heart that I have come full circle. My "Why" has not changed since I began teaming with Jamie on Navigating Solutions. In its most simple core, we want to help people. Our vision has begun to expand, which has led me to have a strong hope that our organization is necessary. We see many people floundering through life, barely able to manage. They are moving forward with not enough support or skill sets to make a positive difference in the lives of their children and we want to step in and offer that support.
Within classrooms and schools, Jamie and I want to positively help out teachers, para educators, other support staff members, parents and even administrators with challenging situations. I still contend that when schools open back up to more of a full time proposition, educators will need outside supports now more than ever. We want to help people believe they have the fortitude to make positive differences in the lives of others. We want to help build up systems so they run more efficiently for all involved. I want to personally feel that I do still have a lot to offer in the world of education. I think I would like for it to be a bit more on a different set of terms that Jamie and I are able to work through and refine.
We had a meeting earlier today where the presenter was talking about taking care of ones selves both physically and emotionally. Especially during these times as we are literally heading into a year of Covid-19, lockdowns, uncertainty and confusion, taking care of ourselves is a big deal. I have to admit I have not always been in that mindset over this past year. It is now time for Jamie and I to grab onto the reigns and nudge the horse along. We are getting closer all the time with launching Navigating Solutions. Our hope is we will get to meet some of you one day and that our positive impact will be helpful.
Until next time, lets all work on taking care of ourselves.
