How Are You Doing?

It has been a very interesting last couple of months for all of us. Each person and family has walked a different path during this COVID-19 time. I fully understand how this is impacting our homes, towns, country and quite frankly most of the world. Never in my wildest dreams would I have seen something like this sort of taking things over. This invisible little creature has definitely turned people upside down.
That being said, how are you doing? I hope you are finding yourself safe and healthy. The stories I continue to hear range from slight to no symptoms to family members dying from this disease. I know many people are out of work, I hope this course will reverse for people soon.
Again, how are you doing? I understand this virus can take it's toll on people's physical and mental health. I have had to alter my course on the emotional side of things. So far, my physical health has maintained. I am following guidelines, not going out very much at all, masking and gloving up (I know there are mixed feelings about these things as well) when I go to a store and am working from home. Admittedly I have hit the wall a few times. I don't necessarily want to go crazy with non social distancing but I do miss people. Zooming is not quite the same. I have had to make some alterations to my days and make sure I do some taking care of Jon business.
What does that look like? I am truly trying to pace myself. Being that both my wife and myself are in education, we are working from home. We connect with students and adults on a daily basis. We are trying to manage and run programs from miles away and it does get a bit dubious as to if things are working at times. One thing I have determined to do during these times is to exercise outside. I like to walk. I always have and it appears as if my small dog is digging the times we have outside with the leash. It gives me daily time to get some fresh air, exercise and try to continue to put things into perspective. I have come to some conclusions about the amount of time I have chosen to work (pre COVID-19) in conjunction to time I was spending with my family. The balance just was not there. I'm certain it happened somewhat slowly but patterns emerged where I was living to work. I will not be doing that again. It has felt as if we have connected at a deeper level since the virus has relegated us to work from home. I am also taking small, frequent breaks throughout my day. I will even walk our property for a bit just to decompress. Outside helps me more than I realized. Guess what? I am figuring it out. I love to be outside and NEED to make sure I am doing that for myself on a daily basis.
What has changed for you during these times? Have you found your patterns changing? Although it is challenging, can you find some alterations that help you to feel better about life in general? Are you also able to connect with your family on a different level? I hope so. I think all of us need to get back into a balance. I was missing so much and hope I do not revert back to where I was. I hope the same for you as well.
Cheers,
Jon
